Here you will witness artisans create one-of-a-kind silver items and gain an authentic insight into the Gaucho culture. Mariano Draghi, the son of Juan, will join you in your journey through the museum and take you through the incredible family history behind the first silversmith workshop in Areco. Experience one of the most traditional Argentine estancias - Ombu de Areco, a ranch founded in San Antonio de Areco built in 1880, birthplace of the gaucho tradition. Located only one-hour drive from Buenos Aires the park (10 acres) is home to the great ombú, Argentina’s national tree, where the estancia’s name comes from, a plant that majestically presides over the park. In this full-of-tradition environment, many species of trees, flowers and the lagoons and streams running into the Areco River provide a rich habitat for over 1000 species of Argentina’s birds. Cows and horses grazing are part of the Estancia´s landscape. You arrive in time for a welcoming ‘asado’ a typical Argentine barbeque accompanied by local wines and a horse-whispering demonstration. The Estancia offers multiple activity options on-site, including horseback riding, carriage rides, a swimming pool, a games area. * In summer lunch is served al fresco in the shadow of the great ombú.
